Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were potentially exposed to crushing hazards from a loss of load while operating an under hung crane that was not subject to regular inspection: (a) Location: On or about 1/30/12, the Dayton underhung crane was not subject to regular inspections. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to establish and implement a program of frequent and periodic inspections in accordance with the requirements of the most applicable version of ASME B30.11-2004, American Society of Mechanical Engineers Safety Standard, Monorails and Underhung Cranes.
