Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards: (a)On or about 10/05/2011 - Access road between employee parking lot and the plant entrance was not designed to protect employees from being struck by vehicles. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to change the flow of traffic to one-way in, one-way out of the parking lot eliminating the need for vehicles to operate on the access road, to increase the number of crosswalks, and to arrange them to be in close proximity to the plant entrances.
