North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: contact with heated surface hazards. a)"Shrink Tunnel" area - the steam pipe 17 inches off the floor, used to supply heated water to the steam/water bath sump, had sections of its insulation broken off that allowed heated metal parts up to 260 degrees to be exposed to employee contact. Abatement note: One means of abatement would be to mend and repair all exposed steam pipes that are less than 7 feet from the floor.
