Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by falling objects: a) at the facility - the frames of racks used to store automotive parts weighing up to 250 lbs were exposed to impact from forklifts and other moving equipment, observed on or about 6/30/11. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install collision protective devices (barriers) around the bottom portions of frames that are exposed to impact from the powered industrial trucks and other moving equipment as specified in ANSI/Rack Manufacturers Institute (RMI) MH16.1:2008.
