Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CUTS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment that was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to laceration hazards: a) For the Millwork and Design, Inc. wood shop at 22309 Rodeo Dr., Brooksville, FL 34602, as observed on or about 08/02/2011: PVC piping was used to carry compressed air to equipment and air used for cleaning. The line pressure was around 100 PSI. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to use cast iron piping or Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) piping in accordance with ANSI/ASME B31.8-1986, Gas Transmission and Distribution Piping Systems standard.
