Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards while operating a hydraulic chain saw on the log deck: a)507 Prairie Avenue, Eutaw, AL 35462; On or about September 7, 2011 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed his employee to struck by hazards in that employees were allowed to operate the log cutting chain saw machine without a guard to protect the operator from being struck when the chain saw blade comes off the chain bar. A feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to install a barrier guard between the operator and the chain saw that would block the chain saw blade from striking the employee when it came off of the chain bar.n
