Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: a)Vault manufacturing area: On or about August 24, 2011, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from fall hazards. The employer allowed employees to be elevated to heights of approximately 20 feet to replace fluorescent bulbs on the ceiling of the vault manufacturing area by standing on a wooden pallet on the forks of a TMC FG 30 forklift. Among others one feasible abatement method is equip the lift with a platform meeting the requirements of ANSI/ITSDF B56.1 - 2009, Section 7.37 Platform: Elevating.
