Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a struck by hazard from damaged steel storage racks having the following deficiencies. a) San Saba Pecan, LP, Harlem, Ga - In the cold storage room C, the steel storage racks had three legs that were bent, on or about 3/14/12. b) San Saba Pecan, LP, Harlem, Ga - In the cold storage room C, the storage racks were not bolted to the floor, on or about 3/14/12. c) San Saba Pecan, LP, Harlem, Ga - In the cold storage room C, the storage racks had missing or broken base plates, on or about 3/14/12. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to follow the ANSI standard MH16.1-2008. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
