Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to amputation hazards: In the following instances foot controls were not protected to inhibit accidental actuation by falling or moving objects, or by someone stepping on them: a)Production Room A - 1000/3805 Di-acro Press Brake b)Production Room B - Niagara Press Brake, model B-15-3-4, Serial #43290 One method of feasible abatement is to install a guard over each foot control. The remaining press brakes at the establishment have guards over similar types of foot controls. ANSI B11.3, American National Standard for the Construction, Care, and Use of Power Press Brakes is an applicable industry standard that specifies that foot controls be protected.
