Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: a.On or about September 15, 2011, all employees operating forklifts were not wearing seatbelts, exposing themselves to crushing hazards. Among the most feasible means of abatement include but are not limited to the following: 1. Utilizing seat belts in accordance with the ASME/ANSI B56.1-1998, Paragraph 5.3.19 which provides in part that, "an active operator protection device or system, when provided, shall be used". 2. Creating and enforcing a forklift safety program which ensures protective devices are used. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION ARE NOT REQUIRED.TION
