Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing and falling hazards: a)On May 16, 2011 and at times prior the employer exposed two employees to crushing hazards while lowering a 55 gallon drum of ink weighing approximately 632 pounds from a wooden pallet to the concrete floor. Among other means, acceptable and feasible means of abatement include: 1) Train the material handling employees on the hazards of handling 55 gallon drums of ink. 2) Provide equipment such as but not limited to drum handlers, drum lifters and train material handling on the proper use and limitations of the material handlers equipment.s
