Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of Public Law 91-596, the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to hazard of electrical shock: (a) Electric Power Line Right-Of-Way - On or about April 6, 2012 through April 12, 2012 take down crew truck's international (7300 DT466) bucket truck had a bucket liner that was damaged. Take down crew truck's International (7300 DT466) bucket truck and trim crew truck's International (USDOT 1383179) bucket truck had not had a periodic dielectric electrical test in last three years. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: The employer shall conduct periodic dielectric electrical tests and inspections on all insulated aerial lifts used for tree trimming operations. Vehicles which have not received periodic dielectric electrical inspections should not be dispatched to work crews working within 10 feet of power lines. The employer shall repair or replace damaged bucket liner. (Reference: ANSI/SIA A92.2 - 2001, paragraph 8.2.4, ANSI/SIA, Vehicle-Mounted Elevating and Rotating Aerial Devices).
