Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, the employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck or run over by the wheels of high lift vehicles "goats": a. On or about 1/11/2011 the "E-Goat", citrus loader, was operated in reverse with an obstructed view of the sides and rear due to missing rear and side view mirrors. b. On or about 1/11/2011 the "E-Goat", citrus loader, was operated in reverse with an inoperable backup alarm. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct these hazards include: - Utilizing spotters when the loader is operated in reverse. - Ensure the loader is equipped with rear view and side mirrors. - Develop and implementing a training program for workers exposed to the loader.
