Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards from a loss of load while operating an under hung crane that was not subject to regular inspection(s): (a)Four Jaks Main Building; Furnace Area: A one ton Crane, Ingersol Rand Crane with a Quicklift Hoist, s/n JE430B, is used to lift molds approximately 4 feet from the floor. The molds weigh between 150-200 pounds. The crane has not been inspected with signed reports within the last 12 months, as determined on or about 03/08/2012. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are: 1.Establish and implement a program of frequent and periodic inspections in accordance with the requirements of the most applicable version of ASME B30.11-2010, American Society of Mechanical Engineers Safety Standard, Monorails and Underhung Cranes. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM
