Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, an employee was exposed to the hazard of falling from an elevated pallet attached to the forks of the forklift: (a) at the site - an employee standing on a pallet attached to the forks of a Toyota Diesel Forklift #RDL30601 was exposed to a 4 foot fall hazard. The employee was standing on the raised platform to work on air conditioning wiring, on or about 10/19/10. Among others, one feasible and acceptable methods of abatement is the use of a commercially manufactured safety basket that is specifically designed for use on powered industrial trucks and meets the requirements of ANSI-ASME Standard B56.1-2000.
