Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards: a)jobsite, Beresford Road and Sedley Road, correct traffic control measures were not implemented when employees were loading logs onto a dual axle truck parked on a public roadway. Reference: American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z133.1-2006 Safety Requirements for Arboricultural Operations, Section 3.2.2: Effective means for controlling pedestrian and vehicular traffic shall be instituted on every jobsite where necessary, in accordance with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) or applicable state and local laws and regulations. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to utilize methods described in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Sections 6C through 6F.
