Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: BURNS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to burns: On or about February 1, 2011 and times prior, employees were exposed to injuries in that, while using a heating iron to fuse the materials together the employees received burns on their arms. The heating irons were located under the meyer laminator when not in use. When needed the heating irons were retrieved from under the meyer laminator and used to fuse the materials. One feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide specialized training and practice on how to perform the job task. Provide and require employees to wear adequate personal protection equipment such as but not limited to protective arm sleeves. Abatement Verification: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").-Certification
