Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: PUNCTURE
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to puncture wounds: (a) Location - Shop: On or about 8/19/10, the employer failed to ensure safe operation of a metal lathe. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means to correct this hazard is to properly train workers on the safe operating speed of metal lathes and the establishment and use of an awareness barrier in accordance with ANSI B11.6-2001.
