Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by moving vehicles: a) At the Ashland, Inc.jobsite located at 3901 River Road in Cincinnati, Ohio, on or about August 3, 2010, employee(s) were exposed to being struck by moving vehicles when exiting vechicles to conduct business at open dock doors and were not wearing any high visibility clothes or vests. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods of abatement to correct the hazard are as follows: (1) Require all drivers to wear reflective vests when outside their vehicles and; (2) Instruct all drivers not to conduct any business at open dock doors.
