Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious phyical harm to employees. Employee(s) were exposed to the hazard of rollover and/or struck-by while operating a Kubota RTV: a) Jefferson Parish Landfill; On or before 11/16/11, the employer failed to ensure that employee(s) operating a Kubota RTV900 on sloped and uneven terrain had been trained, were qualified, and safely operated RTVs including but not limited to approriate speeds, operating surfaces, and the use of seatbelt. Feasible and acceptable abatements to correct this hazard include: 1) Referring to the operator's manual for the Kubota RTV900 and ensuring employees are familiar with the safe operating instructions; 2) Implementing an RTV safety training program to provide hands-on training and knowledge of proper RTV operation.
