Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: At the time of the inspection, city carriers were required to cross busy city streets at multiple locations in the city of Jackson and were exposed to the hazards of struck by vehicle traffic. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct this hazard are to: (1) Require all crossings to be made at approved crosswalks. (2) Add parking points to existing routes to eliminate the need to cross busy streets.
