Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by the load should the overhead hoist fail: a)Molding Dept., on or about 5/17/10: A two ton Spacemaster overhead hoist and a CM Shopair overhead hoist had not been inspected and the CM Shopair had no rated load capacity marking on it. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct these hazards are to: 1.Mark the rated load capacity on the hoist in accordance with ANSI B30.16- 1993, Section 16-1.1. 2.Inspect the overhead hoists in accordance with ANSI B30.16-1993, Section 16- 2. Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
