Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm, exposing employees to fall and crushing hazards: On or about 10/11/2011, at 345 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL, the employer allowed an employee that was unqualified to enter and perform maintenance on building elevator. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method would be to ensure that only qualified employees that are trained and certified would be allowed to perform any work or repairs on elevators. NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
