Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to caught-in-between and drowning hazards: On or about 9/07/2010, at 4311 NW 16th Street, in Lauderhill, Florida, on the canal side of the building, a building known as Bradley Hall, employees were exposed to crushing and drowning hazards while operating a riding lawn-mower without Rollover Protection Systems (ROPS) installed and near a body of water. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazardous condition would be instruct employees to use the equipment as specified in the operator's manual. PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
