Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about August 10, 2010, at 7201 Addison Reserve Blvd in the city of Delray Beach, FL one employee was working on the branch of a tree cutting limbs without any type of fall protection. The employee had been using a chain saw to cut the branches. The employee had been climbing over the guard rails on an aerial lift and was not tied off to anything. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is move the aerial lift to a closer location of the tree during trimming; furthermore, the equipment has a label located on the mast which states "DANGER" DO NOT CLIMB DOWN FROM PLATFORM". PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
