Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) On or about 03/23/10, at 701 Okeechobee Boulevard, in West Palm Beach, Florida, employees were exposed to fall hazards while operating manually propelled elevating aerial platforms that were being moved while elevated and occupied. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the safety rules outlined in the manufacturer's Operating Instruction Manual (Part No.27871). b) On or about 03/23/10, at 701 Okeechobee Boulevard, in West Palm Beach, Florida, employees were exposed to fall hazards while operating a manually propelled elevating aerial platform that were modified without the written permission or approval of the manufacturer. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the provisions outlined in the American National Standards Institute, ANSI/SIA A92.3- 2006. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
