Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a fall hazard from an approximate height of 14 feet and 8 inches working from an unsecured and unsafe elevated platform that was used with a forklift. On or about 09/15/10 at Norcross, GA: Employees were exposed to struck by hazards, while performing maintenance work. The employer failed to ensure that a storage rack, which was used to store oil and lubricants in the Maintenance Shop was properly anchored to the floor. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THESE HAZARDS IS: The employer shall ensure that all storage racks are properly secured to the floor. The bottom of all columns shall be furnished with column base plates and shall be anchored to the floor with anchor bolts capable of resisting the forces caused by the horizontal and vertical loads on the rack.
