Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: Employees ascending and descending from the roof of the furniture warehouse were exposed to fall hazards while climbing a 6-foot metal stepladder that was improperly used. One feasible method to correct the hazard includes, but is not limited to: Follow the manufacturer's safety instructions for climbing and use of a ladder. Pursuant to 26 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the requirements, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that the manufacturer's instructions for proper use of a ladder are followed.
