Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: UNCLASS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer does not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were not protected from exposure to carbon monoxide: This violation occurred on or about August 13, 2010, and at times prior thereto at the EMT station in White Oak, TX were employees were not protected from exposure to carbon monoxide. AMONG OTHER METHODS, FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE MEANS TO ABATE THIS HAZARD INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO: a) Install and maintain carbon monoxide detectors at all station garages and in attached living quaters. b) Have an operational warning alarm system installed on all ambulances with generators and ensure the alarms are maintained in proper working order. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation describing the actions it is taking to ensure employees are protected from carbon monoxide exposure.
