Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: A splash hazard from Nitri Hydrofloric Acid in acid tanks. a) Acid room area - Safety latches were not used on hooks when dipping coil steel rolls into Nitri Hydrofloric Acid tanks, observed on or about 01/07/11. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among others, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to replace the safety latch on the hook used to lower the yoke into Nitri Hydrofloric Acid tanks. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
