Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
P.L. 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard(s) of: a)In the scrap yard, on or about and at times prior to February 1, 2011, employees were exposed to struck-by hazards when they worked around moving vehicles and heavy equipment while performing scrap yard operations. A feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to ensure all employees are provided with reflective vests and have been instructed to utilize reflective vests while working within the scrap yard where clients are delivering scrap metal in privately owned vehicles and employees are operating heavy equipment to process scrap metal. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION ARE NOT REQUIRED.
