P.L. 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard(s) of burns from steam: a.In the boiler room on top of the boiler - on or about December 14, 2010, steam blew out of the stop valve across the work/access platform, exposing the maintenance manager when checking the boiler for operation to steam burn hazards. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to follow the ASME recommended guidelines for Care of Power Boilers, Section C7.412 (i) and C7.413(a)(1).
