Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: Employees working in a temporary traffic zone performing concrete restoration work were exposed to being struck by public and construction vehicular traffic. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of correcting these hazards would be to require employees to wear high visibility garments in accordance with ANSI/ISEA 107-2004, "American National Standard for High-Visibility Apparel and Headwear" and with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) 23 CFR Part 634, "Worker Visibility."
