Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: DUST&FUMES
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of fire/explosion hazard: a/ AustarPharma/Edison NJ Site - Dust Collection System Connector Hoses: S2 Sampler Dispenser Room, S4 Milling Room, S6 Blending Room, S9 Coating Room, S18 Compressing Room (including but not limited to): At the time of this inspection the connector hoses used to carry Class II pharmaceutical dust particulates to the Dust Collection System had components that were of non- combustible materials, e.g., hoses are spiral type, made of stainless steel and are covered with plastic. Feasible abatement method: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to comply with the guidelines outlined in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 654 Prevention of Fire and /Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of Combustible Particulate Solids. 2006 Edition Chapter 6 Section 6.6.
