Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CUTS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to cut and laceration hazards: (a) Location - 24 Dartmouth Road, Marblehead, MA: On or about 12/10/09, the employer failed to ensure proper chain saw operating procedures while an employee was cutting tree limbs. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means to correct this hazard is to train workers to keep both hands on the chain saw at all times and to train workers to operate the saw right-handed in accordance with ANSI Z133.1-2006 and the manufacturer's specifications.
