Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free of recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: Shop Area - On or about May 19, 2010, the employees working in the shop were required to work under fully extended hydraulic lifts with defective safety devices, thereby exposing employees to struck by hazards in the event the lifts failed. A feasible method to abate the hazard is to conform to the specifications referenced in the American National Standard for Automobile lifts (ANSI/ALI ALOIM:2008) - Safety requirements for operation, inspection and maintenance.
