Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: a.On or about February 9, 2010, employees who drove forklifts did not wear their seatbelts while moving stock around the yard and when loading stock onto tractor trailer beds, exposing themselves to crushing hazards. A feasible and acceptable method of abatement is enforcing the requirement to wear the seatbelts at all times when operating the powered industrial trucks. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION ARE REQUIRED.
