North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a potentially large fire from combustible vapors or for the potential for combustible residue buildup within the exhaust system, (duct and at the duct intake, hood, enclosure or canopy), without an automatic extinguishing system. a)facility, SP-1, 2, and 3 - the exhaust hoods, duct intakes, ducts, enclosures or canopy was not provided with an automatic extinguishing system. This condition resulted in a large fire within the duct system on 1/21/10. ABATEMENT NOTE: 1)Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct these hazards is to provide an automatic extinguisher system within the exhaust system, (duct and at the duck intake, hood, enclosure, or canopy).
