Section 5(a)(1) of the occupational safety and health act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards where employees were not familiar with plank selection criteria for use as a wall jack: Jobsite: Two employees were seriously injured while attempting to tilt a wall into position where an inadequate plank, containing several knots, was used as a jack, and snapped allowing the wall to fall, crushing the two workers underneath. One feasible method of abatement could be to use commercially available prefabricated wall jacks.ricated
