Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a) 145 Broadway Menands, NY- On or about 8/09/10- Employee standing on top of a truck trailer with unprotected sides and edges was exposed to an approximately (12') twelve foot fall hazard when extinguishing a dryer lint trap fire. Methods to correct this hazard include: 1.) Equipping employees with a personal fall arrest system (PFAS) with anchorage attached to overhead structures i.e. exterior building structure used to support mechanical air handling equipment. 2.) Attach a custom-fit guardrail system to the top of the trailer.
