Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: GUARDING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Fabrication Shop - As an alternative to point of operation guarding for the Cincinnati press brake, the employer did not develop and implement a safe distance training program for operators of the machine. On or about 01/06/10. NOTE: One feasible abatement method would be to develop and implement a safe distance program that complies with the requirements of ANSI B11.3-1982 and OSHA Directive CPL 2-1.25. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
