Section 5(a)(1) of Public Law 91-596, the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazard when working in vehicular traffic areas. (a)Shipping Yard Area and Facility Entrance at Security Checkpoint Station - On or about December 16, 2010 employees were exposed to struck by hazards due to working near vehicular traffic when assigned to the security checkpoint area, parking lot and shipping yard area. Among other methods, one feasible an acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: (a)Provide and require employees wear high visibility clothing when exposed to vehicular traffic. (b)Provide an effective traffic management plan for daily vehicular traffic and maintenance operations. (c)Train employees on safe practices and procedures for work in traffic areas.
