Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards as to; (a)On or about September 23, 2009, the #1 block crane was being moved while it was not in full view of the operator. Reference Instruction Manual for the Remote Crane Controls, January 2006, Section 1-5. Operating Area and Section 1-7.2. General Rules For Operation. Among others, one feasible and useful abatement method to correct this hazard is to: Maintain full visual view of the whole crane when operating.
