Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: (a)In the north side of High bay, Drill Press Department, Budgit Ton Jib Hoist had the pendant had electrical tape wrapped around the electrical wires. The pendant was not supported in a manner that would protect the electrical conductors exposing employees to electrical hazards. (b)In the Machine Shop by the Drill Press & Chucker Area, Budgit Ton Jib Hoist pendant was not supported in a manner that would protect the electrical conductors. (c)In the Machine Shop by Warner & Swasey Automatic Chucker, Ton Capacity Lodestar Hoist pendant was not supported in a manner that would protect the electrical conductors. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to correct these hazards are to use a safer alternate method such as ensure the pendant control was properly supported as outlined in ASME Overhead Hoist (Underhung) B30.16-2003, Section 16-1.2.3(d) a pendant station shall be supported in a manner that will protect the electrical conductors or air hoses against strain. Any pendant station that might present a hazard to the operator, if a ground fault occurs, shall be grounded. Certification, and documentation/evidence of abatement is required. Certification of abatement is required by 29 CFR Part 1903 and is to be submitted within ten (10) calendar days after the abatement date.ment
