Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: (a)At the 14105 St. George Ct., Elm Grove jobsite; employees were exposed to struck by and/or crushing hazards from the tree in that a root collar inspection was not performed prior to climbing, entering, or performing any work in a tree. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to correct these hazards are to use a safer alternate method such as: 1.Follow the requirements as outlined in American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z133.1-2006 American National Standard for Arboricultural Operations - - Safety Requirements, Section 8.1.1; A visual hazard assessment, including a root collar inspection, shall be performed prior to climbing, entering, or performing any work in a tree. Certification, and documentation/evidence of abatement is required. Certification of abatement is required by 29 CFR Part 1903 and is to be submitted within ten (10) calendar days after the abatement date.ment
