North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer/owner did not furnish housing free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to occupants in that occupants living in trailers located at 3652 Hwy 55 W, Kinston, NC were exposed to electrical hazards from improper use of temporary wiring and exposure to live electrical parts. a) Both trailers had hanging light fixtures with improper repairs and exposed energized wiring rated at 110 volts. b) Occupants of both trailers were using a washing machine exposed to the elements that was supplied power through the use of extension cords that were partially buried, run through windows and not gfci protected. Among others one feasible and accepted method of abating this violation is to eliminate all temporary wiring being used on a permanent basis and have all corrections/repairs made to meet NEC and local building code requirements.
