Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the following: a.At the facility, each maintenance employee who routinely performed work on or near energized parts up to 208 VAC such as testing, troubleshooting, voltage measuring, and other tasks, had not received training to understand the specific hazards associated with electrical energy and safety-related work practices and requirements as necessary to provide protection from the electrical hazards with their respective job or task assignments. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to train employees in safety-related work practices as outlined in National Fire Protection Associations (NFPA) 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, Section 110.6.
