Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Struck-by and cushing hazards. On or about 09/28/2009, at a soil distribution facility, employees were exposed to struck-by and crushing hazards when working near a moving front end loader while the forward view was obstructed by an elevated bucket at 9621 State Road 7, in Boynton Beach, FL 33472. Among other methods of abatement, a feasible and acceptable method to correct these hazards is to follow the operators manual of the equipment which indicates that the bucket of the front end loader must not be more than 12 to 16 inches off the surface during transport or carrying operations. PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
