Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard: On or about 05/12/2009, at 9560 Pines Blvd., in the city of Pembroke Pines, FL, an employee was exposed to a fall hazard while using a fiberglass step ladder that was not spread open. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to prohibit employees from using step ladders without setting the ladder to its fully-open position with the spreaders locked. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
