Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Die Cutting Area- The metal cutting saw, such as the Enco Horizontal Bandsaw, Serial #311770, was not equipped with a mechanism to prevent the machines from automatically restarting upon restoration of power after a power failure. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to include, but not be limited to the following: 1) Provide a magnetic restarter or similar device as required by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B11.10-2003, Section 6.11, that in the event of an interruption in the electrical supply the device would prevent the saw from restarting automatically when power is restored.ally
